Synchronizing 100% personality models doesn't seem easy. The dilemma is that the older outfits and coating wear are modeled to PSO2 Meseta fit the old pso2 body. That is not likely to happen. Well, I mean that I'd be willing to shed a certain proportion of those makeup to keep things intact around variations. Provided that there's a steady feed of cool new things to replace it, I don't mind. I always rotate out my older looks anyhow. Provided that the character models translate 1:1 it will still feel just like mine.
I'd imagine a massive complication to this involves a great deal of the cosmetics from the Japanese side of things that were exclusive to collaborations, promotional events, and events which no longer exist. The instance I can think of is that the Monster Hunter Frontier Z collaboration where I can imagine the clothing and weapons could definitely be provided a visual update together with everything else but I do not exactly know how the licensing or how the legal side of the cooperation works where I'd wish it was as simple as Sega going through and updating the assets but I do not understand about just how much Capcom is involved in that process.
The same is applicable to collaborations such as the Final Fantasy XIV cooperation with Odin (which still exists as far as I know) where I do not know how much Square Enix is involved in that for Sega to have the ability to update assets there. When it was purely just Phantasy Star-related items (such as character outfits, cameos from other games, or alternative Sega-related possessions ) I could envision this likely would have been achieved, or would be done. But from the Global version we already don't have the existence of Cougar NX so that I don't know if there are other complications regarding Sega's properties that might also contribute not to updating everything they can within reason.
I can envision that likely out there we will still see someone wearing those old collaboration things even if they aren't awakened to the same standards as new makeup in a similar way and that there definitely would have been outrage if it was made unusable or obsolete. Collabs who have experienced their makeup removed still have their assets exist on the sport so those will likely still be accessible for buy Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta jp players.
